GENERAL PURPOSE

The Bridge Health Meeting of the EUBIROD Network has been held in Nicosia, Cyprus, 20^th-23^rdSeptember 2017 with the general purpose of integrating the scope of clinical and epidemiological monitoring with the personal needs of people with diabetes and the goals of policy makers, considering the following domains:

• The person.How to gain the maximum value for personal health care
• The policy maker.How to optimise costs and outcomes for well-defined clinical conditions at system level
• Feedback for policy and self-care. How to use high quality information to achieve the best solutions

At the 2^nd Bridge Health Meeting, representatives of patient associations, information experts and policy makers at regional, national and European level have compared their views through targeted discussions.

A series of events have been organized to evaluate:

• the impact of health information systems on privacy and data protection
• major advancements in the area of value-based health care, patient reported measures and cost analysis
• results of the OECD Ministerial and Policy Forum “People at the Centre”, Paris 16-17^thJanuary 2017
• evolution of the BIRO approach as a means to exchange and analyse data on chronic diseases
• updates from centres associated to the EUBIROD network
